Congratulations and thank you for considering My Cousin Skinny for your most important day!
We’d like to share with you why choosing the right musicians is so important…and why choosing us means one less thing to worry about on your wedding day.
Here’s a few questions to ponder as you consider using us for your engagement:
- Are you looking for an act that can provide everything from ceremony music to danceable tunes and everything in between?
- Do you like the idea of a small acoustic act that is capable of sounding like much more than just two musicians by incorporating percussion and guitar loops?
- Would you feel good about hiring musicians with over 15 years of professional experience and the ability to learn several of your special song requests?
When Mike Gloss and Jeff Simonton first started playing gigs they cut their teeth on the local music scene around Harrisburg, PA performing with a four piece band called “Into The Woods”. They were eventually picked up by a management company out of New York City run by several music attorneys working for Arista Records.
They expanded their horizons playing shows in New York City, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Maine, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, and Florida. After six years performing with Into The Woods they eventually parted ways with that band, and started a new musical group based out of Raleigh known as “Zegg”.
It wasn’t long before Mike & Jeff were lighting up the local music scene with their new act and receiving rave reviews. They won Relix Magazine’s “Jam Off” competition and had their original song “Send Your Blue Skies” pressed onto a compilation CD that distributed over 100,000 copies nationally.
“Word of ZEGG’s tight live shows is spreading” – Relix Magazine
“The cd was fantastic…best produced album from a regional band I’ve heard. These guys are definitely going somewhere.” – Mike Zarcone, HarrisburgNightlife.com, 2007
“Raleigh’s ZEGG, a collection of five well trained musicians … is a natural progression in the timeline of groove and jam, applying a tasteful pop gloss to an eclectic, dexterous sound.” — Rich Ivey, Independent Weekly, Raleigh NC, 2007
“This is a band that has a sound to motivate, influence, and drive their audiences into a musical frenzy” – David Figueroa, Former President/Producer, Media Moguls, Live & Local TV
“… soaring harmonies with inventive acoustic and electric songs…” – Relix Magazine
Currently Mike & Jeff perform exclusively as an acoustic duo, and have worked hard to create an energetic and unique musical act that is sure to please music fans of all ages.
Making the Right Choice
Depending on your needs you may be leaning in on direction or the other, but there are very few wedding musicians that can offer the range of My Cousin Skinny. We like to feel that we provide the complete package.
You could hire separate musicians to play at the ceremony and then a DJ or band for the reception…or you could choose us and hire an act that is diverse enough to professionally handle both special aspects of your wedding day.
So if you are looking for musicians that provide intimate music as well as party tunes…
If you want a smaller act that is capable of producing big sounds at the appropriate time…
And if you want to hire seasoned professional musicians…
We would love to talk to you about performing on your wedding day!
